Production starts next month on Underworld and we have more casting news. Dread Central have reported Clementine Nicholson has joined the cast.

British newcomer Clementine Nicholson has joined the Screen Gems/Lakeshore action-horror sequel as Lena, the Nordic Coven’s greatest warrior and daughter of Vidar.

iZombie star Bradley James joins Underworld 5

Comingsoon.net has brought us the news that Bradley James has been cast as the primary villian but no details of said villian have been announced.

“iZombie” and “Damien” star Bradley James (who plays the titular Antichrist in the upcoming A&E series) has joined the cast of Underworld 5 as the primary antagonist. James joins a cast that includes Kate Beckinsale and Theo James as Selene and David, in addition to “Outlander” star Tobias Menzies.

Sicilian Vampire to open Big Apple Film Fesftival

PR Newswire released news that Sicilian Vampire will open this year’s New York City 12th Annual Big Apple Film Festival. The Festival runs from 4th November to 7 November. Official site is HERE

Sicilian Vampire stars notable actors James Caan, Daryl Hannah, Paul Sorvino, Robert Loggia, Armand Assante, Robert Davi, Michael Paré, Eric Roberts, Daniel Baldwin, Tony Nardi, Frank D’Angelo and Phil Esposito. Having just been completed and entered into a few film festivals, the film has also been selected to showcase in the 2015 AOF Festival XI in Monrovia California where it has been nominated for several categories including best director.

Equal parts Goodfellas and Dusk till Dawn, Sicilian Vampire tells the story of reputed mobster Sonny Trafficante who was hoping to get away to the family hunt lodge for a little rest and relaxation and create some memories. Instead, what he got was a night he will never forget. Once there, Sonny is bitten by a bat released from a container of bananas they brought up to the lodge. The bat takes a vicious bite of Sonny’s neck and then flies off into the night.

From that moment on Sonny is entrusted with powers beyond that of any mortal – supersonic hearing, enhanced sight, and superhuman strength – even the ability to speak to the dead. Because of these heightened senses Sonny now feels a responsibility to right the wrongs in his life, and protect those he loves. At first, he resists these new found powers but in the end he welcomes his fate.

Resureksyon – Phillipino Vampire Movie!

Dread Central have reported on an upcoming movie release in the Philippines. The only release date we have is set for 23rd September with no mention for other territories.

“In 2014, over 800 OFW’s came back to the country in coffins,” says the trailer for new new Filipino vampire flick Resureksyon. Care to wonder why? They’re not as dead as they seem.

Directed by Alfonso Torre III (Kabisera), Resureksyon stars Isabelle Daza, Jasmine Curtis, Raikko Mateo, and Paulo Avelino.

Resureksyon will open in the Philippines on on September 23rd. No word on a US release yet so watch this space.

Independent movie “Vamp Bikers Dos” at Coney Island Film Festival

DNAinfo have an article on the release on a new vampire flick “Vamp Bikers Dos”. Their facebook page is located here!

The movie is set to debut at the Coney Island Film Festival on Sept. 19 and follows a group of modern-day witches as they descend into a biker town, capturing vampires and vampire bikers as their slaves.

A vengeful war is waged, filled with fangs and fury on the Coney Island boardwalk.

Nocturna coming to Blu-Ray and DVD this October

It’s Christmastime in New Orleans and children are mysteriously disappearing, stolen from their homes, taken off the street, dozens have vanished without a trace. Detective Harry Ganat and his partner Roy Cody have found a young girl in the home of a murdered swamper and she leads them to the den of her captors…the Molderos, a group of merciless vampires who feed on the blood of children.

The detectives’ lives are spared by a troika of ancient vampires; Brisbane, Dimitri and Lydia—all seductive creatures who despise the Molderos as well. In exchange for protecting the detectives from their new enemies, the trio of “friendly” vampires offer them a deal—find the hidden lair of their mutual enemies and their lives will be spared and the other stolen children will be returned to them unharmed. But finding and killing the Molderos is not going to be easy and Harry soon finds himself questioned by the police, hunted by the Molderos at night, and caught in a deadly love triangle between Lydia and her ancient master, Brisbane.

Dublin Vamp Fan? 90’s Vampires @ Light House Cinema

Anyone near Dublin (or willing to travel) can attend Light House Cinema who have teamed up with the Bram Stoker Festival to bring you four nights of 90’s Vampires being From Dusk Till Dawn, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blade I & II and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Our focus is on the 1990’s, a time when pop culture was particular steeped in irony and self-reference. Interpretations of the Dracula character have endured in Hollywood for decades in various different forms and in the 1990s vampires took a form more pleasing to the overall cultural zeitgeist at a time when the horror genre was having fun with its own tropes and conventions.

Wicked Horror have given us a  list of six recent vampire films which did not get a lot of attention and may have been overlooked by many. Check out the list, it’s well worth it for Vamp fans ;.;

In recent years, there has been a notion that vampires have all but disappeared from the horror genre, instead having moved on to dominate the field of paranormal romance in the wake of smash hit young adult series like Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga. But even though it took some years, the popularity of Twilight has almost completely waned. And even when it was at the height of its success, vampires were still making their place in horror. You just had to look a little harder for them.
